The report states that both skilled and semi-skilled personnel will be required during project implementation of all phases. “The project will create employment opportunities that will peak at 1,500 during the construction phase and about 800 employment opportunities during the operational phase,” the report reads in part. The EIA report says if approved, the smelter, to be located within the premises of Kansanshi Mine, will be constructed at a cost of US$640 million and will have a lifespan of 20 years.
